President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has chaired a meeting in the city of Namangan with hokims of the region and districts, chief executives of spheres and industries, representatives of the wider public, including entrepreneurs and youth.

“I think we will achieve the desired result from this meeting if we are frank with each other, as it has become a tradition of late, and raise issues at all levels – from mahallas to districts. Our biggest goal is to make our people’s life prosperous. Therefore, the representatives of the region, its activists, officials from each district must voice their proposals. Today we’ll discuss our plans for the next year, see what opportunities we have,” the head of state announced while opening the session.

Certain achievements and changes, the President noted, have taken place in the province, but they still have to be in tune with the objectives we have set for ourselves.

“Those who speak the truth are in tune with reforms. Establishing our right way by drawing proper conclusions from criticism is the greatest help for us,” Shavkat Mirziyoyev suggested.

The President said that there are still executives unable to quit obsolete work style. He pointed out that economic recovery in a crisis caused by the pandemic is a rather thorny task, requiring great responsibility from local officials. Issues of finding the best ways out to advance the Namangan region, restarting the economy, creating jobs and providing employment, it was noted, are critical at this moment.

The meeting participants sought to identify tasks for the socio-economic development of the region, for the implementation of new projects across fields and sectors, attraction of investments, reduction of poverty.
