President Shavkat Mirziyoyev got acquainted with the new building of the Ministry of Innovation Development, erected in the Student Village in Tashkent’s Almazar district.
The Ministry was established in accordance with a 29 November 2017 Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan. A month later, construction works kicked off to build a new block for the new government agency. On May 24 last year, the head of state visited the construction site and reviewed the progress of works on the spot.
The Ministry seeks primarily to accelerate the development of all sectors of the national economy and the social sphere based on the achievements of world science, innovative ideas and technologies. The five-level building was assembled and equipped accordingly.
Thus, the ground floor hosts an exhibition hall, an amphitheater, a young inventors office, an information department, electronic library, a cafe and citizens reception room. The second level has housed a scientific and practical center for the implementation of innovative developments, modern laboratories of robotics and mechatronics, web programming. Scientific and technical information center, the scientific and practical center for intelligent software systems at the National University of Uzbekistan, as well as startup premises have found location on the third floor. Upper floors are home for employee offices and conference rooms. There are also training laboratories for aerospace research and prototyping of 3D models.
A fountain, a summer amphitheater and a presentation platform have been created in the garden around the building.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev first got acquainted with the interactive exhibition hall. The showroom provides information on innovative products developed by foreign and domestic companies, startup projects. The hall is divided into 8 blocks covering 37 projects in various fields.
For instance, the robotics section presents robots from leading foreign companies. Visitors can try to assemble and handle robots. Those who want to seriously engage in robotics can visit the training and research laboratory on the second floor.
In the section for technology transfer in economic and social spheres, one can learn about high technologies, smart devices and innovations for everyday life.
As part of this work, a transfer of technologies has been successfully implemented for the production of import-substituting, export-oriented polyester putty and polyester glue used in the construction and automotive industries.
An interactive studio in the ministry building offers online classes, webinars and video lessons. The studio will also help educate young people and improve the skills of specialists through distance technologies as part of the One Million Coders scheme.
“Our country lags behind in the field of high technology. We have set up the Ministry of Innovation Development and these conditions to modernize all walks of life in Uzbekistan and keep up with the world. This team should show concrete practical results by the end of the year,” Shavkat Mirziyoyev suggested.
The Ministry was instructed to effectively cash in the powers granted to it and the environment created to introduce developments across industries and spheres.
Through video conferencing, the President talked with specialists of the Center for Advanced Technologies of the Ministry.
Great attention is paid in Uzbekistan to attracting people to science and stimulating academic research. The new modern building of the Ministry has all the conditions for this. Talented youth will have the opportunity to get in touch with the latest developments and technologies, as well as participate in startup projects.
The building uses augmented reality technology on the NazzAR platform. It allows users to interact with world facilities through a smartphone.
Today, the Ministry of Innovation Development has delivered a system to ensure the integration of science and production. Support is afforded to innovative ideas and projects of research institutions and scientists, and 31 startup schemes worth 28.2 billion soums have been funded thus far. In the framework of international cooperation, 38 joint projects for the amount of 9.6 billion soums are currently being implemented together with partners in Germany, Russia and Belarus.
