Today, March 27, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev had a telephone conversation with the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov.
The leaders discussed topical aspects of cooperation between the two nations, including the priority measures taken in countries to contain the spread of coronavirus infection.
The Presidents noted with satisfaction the work of relevant agencies and organizations in providing mutual practical assistance and monitoring the developments in the epidemiological situation, especially in the border areas.
Particular attention was paid to the importance of continuing with vigorous joint measures to minimize the negative impact of the pandemic on Uzbek-Turkmen relations in the trade, economic, energy, transport and communications, cultural-humanitarian and other fields.
The leaders expressed confidence that joint actions will help to successfully overcome all emerging difficulties and new challenges, and will further strengthen the bonds of friendship and good neighborliness, strategic partnership and multifaceted cooperation between Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan.
The two heads of state also exchanged views on regional cooperation and the international agenda.
