On October 5, a telephone dialogue took place between the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon.
At the start of the conversation, the head of our state sincerely congratulated Emomali Rahmon on his birthday, wishing him sound health, wellbeing and every success.
The Uzbek President especially noted the immense role and personal contribution of the Tajik leader to the provision for sustainable socio-economic development of the country and the growth in the welfare of the population, consolidation of the nation’s standing in the international arena.
Thanks to the political will and practical steps taken, it was emphasized, the multifaceted relations between our two countries have reached strategic partnership, an unprecedentedly high point.
During the reciprocal highest-level visits last year, important agreements were reached and mutually acceptable solutions were found on the most pressing issues of bilateral cooperation.
In recent years, the volume of bilateral trade has doubled; air, road and rail links have expanded significantly. Close ties have been established among the border provinces. Cultural and humanitarian exchanges have intensified.
During the conversation, the heads of state discussed also other topical aspects of cooperation, and swapped views on international and regional issues.
The Presidents reaffirmed their commitment to further developing and strengthening the relations of friendship, good neighborliness and comprehensive cooperation between Uzbekistan and Tajikistan.
