President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has visited the Sakhovat farm in the Khavast district and got acquainted with the course of cotton cultivation.
The farm operating at the Bek Cluster enterprise has collected 455 tons of grain harvest this season and received more than 314 million soums of net profit. Export-oriented leguminous plants were sown on the released areas. At the same time, cotton is grown on 50 hectares.
The head of our state asked how cotton is developing.
Farmers noted that, thanks to the construction of the Sardoba water reservoir and the allocation of over 10 billion soums for the Syrdarya region for pest control, it becomes possible to obtain high yields.
“What is the general purpose of cultivating the land? Receive income! Growth in income is primarily provided by an increase in yield. Therefore, it is crucial that at least five boxes be added to each bush before the harvest season begins, and that there is five centners more yield per hectare,” Shavkat Mirziyoyev stressed.
The President also held a meeting here with the leaders of districts and sectors, farmers and entrepreneurs of the region, representatives of senior generation. The talk was about the works in progress on the development of agriculture and small business, on the consolidation of public health, and crime prevention.
This year, cotton in the Syrdarya region is planted on 73 thousand hectares. Due to heavy rainfall in the spring months, the crops in some fields deteriorated, and thus they were sown anew.
Responsible officials of the government and the sphere were instructed to ensure the contour control of all fields where cotton is lagging behind in development, to organize treatment with biostimulants and secure systematic implementation of all agrotechnical works.
It was noted at the meeting that the rise in the public purchase price of cotton almost 1.3 times compared to last year boosted the interestedness of farmers.
The President pointed out that in a region that lacks large industrial enterprises, small business should be the main source of growth in gross regional product and of jobs for the population. Separate instructions were given regarding the streamlining of efforts in crime prevention and public health promotion.
