Under the foreign enterprise set up in the framework of the development of a cluster system in Uzbekistan’s agricultural sector, 8 thousand hectares of land were allocated. More than 3 thousand people have already been employed, cultivation and processing of cotton is established. In 2018 alone, the factory processed over 20 thousand tons of raw materials, and as a result, achieved income of 61.5 million US dollars.
It is noteworthy that almost 75 million dollars was invested in the creation of the enterprise. This means that it almost paid for itself as soon as in the first year of activity.
Also noteworthy is the fact that with the sale of only raw materials in the form of cotton fiber, the company would receive only 11.5 million dollars. Processing and production of finished goods has allowed a six-fold grwoth in cost and earn $ 50 million.
“These are what clusters should look like. A sense of interestedness, a new way of thinking will surely give a result. When the economy works smoothly, it is able to “pull” social sectors as well. Clusters are profitable, they provide people with work and income. This is our highest goal,” Shavkat Mirziyoyev pointed out.
In general, this cluster includes 8 projects covering cotton harvesting and processing, and the production of finished products. The construction of spinning and textile factories, facilities for dyeing fabrics and sewing ready-made clothes continues. Also, it is planned to commission a fat-oil plant, a cattle-breeding complex and an enterprise for the production of feed for animals.
Information presented also included that related to the works planned on the development of sericulture, food production, reconstruction of irrigation networks in the Bukhara region, improvement of the system of supplying farms with fuel and mineral fertilizers. The President noted the need for special attention to the effective use of household land, to provide the population with practical assistance in this matter, which is important for ensuring the abundance and availability of food products.
