On November 16, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev had a telephone conversation with the President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sooronbay Jeenbekov.
The President of Uzbekistan cordially congratulated the President of the Kyrgyz Republic on his birthday, wishing him good health, wellbeing and new success.
The sides noted with deep satisfaction the stable positive trend in strengthening warm ties of fraternity, centuries-old friendship and good-neighborliness between the two countries.
An important event in development of Uzbekistan – Kyrgyzstan multifaceted cooperation became the official visit of President Sooronbay Jeenbekov to Uzbekistan last December, which resulted in significant arrangements and agreements on expanding practical cooperation.
During the conversation, prospects for deepening partnership, increasing mutual trade, strengthening cooperation in industry, energy, transport and agriculture were considered.
The sides supported full disclosure of great potential of interregional cooperation.
Fruitful results of regular joint events between the border regions of the two countries were noted with deep satisfaction. In March this year, the first meeting of the Council of Heads of the Border Regions of Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan was held in Fergana.
Cultural and humanitarian exchange has been intensified. Last month, Uzbekistan successfully hosted Culture and Art Days of the Kyrgyz Republic. In Uzbekistan, the 90th anniversary of the famous writer, humanist Chingiz Aytmatov’s birth is widely celebrated.
Views were exchanged on current issues of regional and international agenda.
The President of Kyrgyzstan expressed his sincere gratitude to the President of Uzbekistan for warm congratulations and wishes.
Following the conversation, the leaders of the states reaffirmed their firm determination to comprehensively develop mutually beneficial cooperation, strengthen friendship, good-neighborliness and strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan for the benefit of two fraternal people.
