According to the Press Service of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, on May 21, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev had a telephone conversation with the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev.
The Heads of states discussed current issues of Uzbekistan – Kazakhstan multifaceted partnership in the context of implementing the agreements reached during regular meetings and contacts at the highest level.
Stable growth in volumes and expansion of the range of mutual trade was noted with deep satisfaction, which makes it possible to achieve the target of $3 billion in trade turnover this year, and $5 billion in the coming years.
Special attention was paid to intensification of interregional contacts aimed at effective use of the existing great potential for economic, cultural and humanitarian cooperation between the two countries.
The mutual interest in implementing promising joint projects in the sphere of industry, energy, transport and other branches of the economy was confirmed.
The leaders of the states highly appreciated the effective work of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission on bilateral cooperation, as well as the successfully held joint events within the framework of the Year of Uzbekistan in Kazakhstan.
The sides also exchanged views on current issues of international policy and regional cooperation.
In conclusion, the Presidents of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Republic of Kazakhstan confirmed their strong commitment to further strengthening Uzbekistan – Kazakhstan relations of friendship, good neighborliness and strategic partnership, expansion of mutually beneficial cooperation for the benefit of the two fraternal countries and people.
