Uzbekistan and Turkey agreed to establish the Supreme Council for Strategic Cooperation. This was announced by the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev on 30 April 2018.
According to him, the decision to establish the Supreme Council was taken during negotiations with the President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
The head of Uzbekistan said that the Presidents of Uzbekistan and Turkey will chair the Supreme Council for Strategic Cooperation.
The Supreme Council for Strategic Cooperation is created to implement the agreements reached during the talks between the leaders of the two countries, Shavkat Mirziyoyev stressed.
The President of Uzbekistan expressed confidence that the council will serve to develop bilateral relations.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan stated that the first meeting of the Council will be held in Turkey. He added that the meeting in turn will be held in Uzbekistan and Turkey.
