President Shavkat Mirziyoyev each time he visits a particular region pays interest to the progress of reforms, the implementation of socio-economic programs, living conditions and the mood of the people. In Khorezm region, the President held a meeting with members of the government, heads of ministries and departments, khokims of the region and districts, officials of the respective spheres.

The head of state critically analyzing available socio-economic issues in the region, pointed out to the lack of progress in solving shortcomings. He also noted the poor performance of the sectors of the region, cities and districts.  

The meeting noted that order and discipline were essential to achieving good results.

The region lagged behind in many areas, the presence of serious shortcomings in the work to create new jobs, expanding the revenue base, increasing the export potential of the region, reducing debt, the improvement of cities and villages, as well as many problems in the field of tourism, despite the wide opportunities of the region in this industry.

At a meeting held on 21 April, khokim of the region Ilgizar Sobirov was dismissed from his post for serious deficiencies. Farhod Ermanov was appointed acting khokim of the region.

First Deputy khokim of the region on economic issues Maksud Sapaev, Deputy khokim of the region for investment Temur Rakhmonov and khokim of Kushkupir district Sardor Yusupov were also dismissed from the positions for their shortcomings. In addition, disciplinary measures have been taken against sector leaders and several responsible persons, and a specific time frame has been given to address shortcomings.

The new management and all responsible persons of the area were entrusted with a number of tasks.
