President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with Chang Wanquan, the Minister of Defense and State Councilor of the People's Republic of China, on December 20 in Tashkent.
After warmly welcoming the guest, the President expressed with great satisfaction the appreciable intensification of contacts at various levels between the two countries along with the expansion of productive cooperation. It was stressed that such high dynamics ensures consistent strengthening of the comprehensive strategic partnership.
The sides have considered the practical ways to implement the arrangements and agreements reached in May during the state visit to China.
The present state of the bilateral military and military-technical cooperation and its prospects were considered at the meeting. Issues of ensuring the regional security and stability have also been discussed.
The Minister of Defense and State Councilor of the People's Republic of China, Chang Wanquan expressed his deep gratitude to the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan for the warm welcome and conveyed sincere greetings and best wishes of the Chairman of the People's Republic of China, Xi Jinping.
Chang Wanquan praised the ongoing reforms in Uzbekistan Armed Forces aimed at the increase of its might and strengthening the country’s defense capability. The Chinese Minister of Defense emphasized the readiness of China to continue the development of the mutually beneficial partnership between the two countries in this sphere.
