The candidate for President of the Republic of Uzbekistan from the movement of entrepreneurs and businessmen – the Uzbekistan Liberal-Democratic Party (UzLiDeP), Shavkat Mirziyoyev, voted at polling station No 132 in the city of Tashkent on 4 December.
The constitution of the country guarantees citizens’ rights to elect and to be elected, their equality and free expression of their will. In the years of independence under the leadership of the country’s First President Islam Karimov, a national electoral system ensuring these rights and liberties was formed. In accordance with a blueprint for the further extension of democratic reforms and the formation of a civil society in the country, changes and additions had been made to the constitution and the electoral law, and these significantly improved the electoral system.
The presidential elections are taking place on a firm legislative basis conforming to the universally-recognized international principles.
The country’s policy and principles of development defined by the First President are an important basis for moving forward and increasing the people’s wellbeing. Thanks to peace and stability reigning in the country, a favourable investment climate created here, international cooperation is expanding ever more. As a result of the consistent modernization of the economy, its competitiveness and export potential are rising. The development of private entrepreneurship helps to increase the production of modern goods and services and to ensure people’s employment. Structural reforms are being implemented in the agricultural sector, ensuring an abundance of produce on markets.
Measures being taken for steady rises in growth rates, improvement in the system of state and public administration, reform of the judicial system and the strengthening of the supremacy of law, the provision of broad freedom to the small business and private entrepreneurship sector, the expansion of the income base of local budgets and the development of the social sphere will raise the country’s development and the wellbeing of its people to a new level.
The presidential elections are an important political event for the country today and its future. With a profound understanding of this, people are taking an active part in voting. Every voter is voting for the continued reign of peace and calm the country and for the Motherland’s great future.
