On September 30, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev received FIFA President Gianni Infantino.
At the beginning of the meeting, the FIFA President highlighted Uzbekistan’s achievements in football and the results of ongoing reforms aimed at providing comprehensive support for sports in the country.
The sides focused on hosting a major international sporting event, the FIFA U-20 World Cup, in Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan.
They expressed great satisfaction with the fruitful cooperation with FIFA on joint programs to promote football, particularly among young people.
The meeting also addressed ways to further expand the partnership, primarily by transforming the system of football organization and management, helping identify young talent, and training coaches, referees, managers, sports doctors, and technical specialists to international standards.
The sides placed particular emphasis on hosting major FIFA tournaments and events in Uzbekistan and accelerating the opening of FIFA’s regional office in Tashkent.
