New initiative in Kegeyli provides 50 families with a stable source of income

18.09.2026

As in all regions of the country, systematic measures are being implemented in the Republic of Karakalpakstan to increase household incomes.

A greenhouse complex established in Kegeyli district at the initiative of the Ministry of Employment and Poverty Reduction is also contributing to these efforts.

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed the operations of the complex.

The project was allocated 12.5 billion soums in preferential financing, which was used to establish a modern lightweight greenhouse covering 5 hectares. At the first stage, 50 families included in the Social Register were involved in the project and provided with permanent employment.

Each participating low-income family was allocated 1,000 square meters of greenhouse space. The lead entrepreneur assigned to the complex does more than provide land and greenhouses. For two years, participants receive on-site training and assistance in acquiring the necessary knowledge and practical skills. They are then supported in establishing greenhouses on their own household plots, enabling them to generate a stable source of income.

Importantly, the lead entrepreneur will purchase the agricultural products grown by participating families at market prices.

The greenhouse complex also provides training in modern greenhouse farming and agricultural practices for up to 1,000 people annually. The system is designed to equip participants with practical skills and help them establish stable and reliable sources of income.

Additional opportunities have also been created to increase family incomes. Five hundred ducks are being raised in a 350-meter-long canal adjacent to the greenhouse complex. As part of the project, each family received 10 breeding ducks of the “Favorite” breed imported from Brazil. Participants are also being taught modern duck-breeding techniques.

The President noted the importance of the project in promoting entrepreneurship and employment in rural areas. He particularly highlighted the approach of modern entrepreneurs who seek not only to develop their own businesses but also to contribute to improving people’s quality of life.

The project also makes extensive use of modern, resource-efficient technologies. Solar panels with a total capacity of 100 kilowatts have been installed at the complex, fully meeting its daily electricity needs.
