President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Prime Minister Han Seongsook of the Republic of Korea attended a joint business forum.

The forum brought together more than 300 representatives of government agencies and the business communities of both countries, including heads of leading financial institutions, major industrial enterprises and trading companies.

The Korean business community was represented by Lotte Chemical, Hyundai Motor Group, Samsung C&T, CJ Group, Shinhan Financial Group, Hyundai Rotem, KIND, BOMI, Kia Corporation, Sampyo Group, HansaeMobility and other companies.

In his address, the President of Uzbekistan emphasized that Korea is a time-tested friend and special strategic partner of Uzbekistan, while trade, economic and investment ties are among the key areas of multifaceted Uzbek-Korean cooperation.

The successful operations and significant contribution of leading Korean companies to Uzbekistan’s economic development were highlighted.

Today, Uzbekistan is entering a new stage of industrial and technological development, opening up broad opportunities to increase mutual trade, expand investment cooperation and implement new joint projects.

The President of Uzbekistan proposed combining Uzbekistan’s resource base, Korea’s advanced technologies and the investment capital of companies from both countries to create new drivers of economic growth.

The President outlined the key areas for further economic partnership. These include industrial cooperation and the development of full-fledged production chains, energy and the green economy, transport and modern infrastructure, digitalization and artificial intelligence, semiconductors and microelectronics, biotechnology and pharmaceuticals, joint research, the introduction of advanced technologies, personnel training and other areas.

Korean companies were invited to implement projects in copper processing, electrical equipment manufacturing, localization of components for the automotive and electric vehicle industries, robotics and automation, biotechnology and pharmaceuticals, hydropower, energy storage systems, modernization of energy networks, as well as the development of transport and urban infrastructure.

As a practical mechanism for deepening industrial and technological cooperation, the President proposed establishing an Uzbek-Korean Industrial and Technological Alliance.

The Leader of Uzbekistan expressed readiness to continue creating favorableconditions for Korean businesses and providing practical support for the implementation of joint projects.
