As part of his visit to Tashkent’s Almazar district, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited ToshTechTechnical University.
Established in accordance with the Presidential Decree of September 8, 2025, the university represents an important step in transforming the country’s higher engineering education system.
The total cost of the project is 69.5 billion soums. As part of the project, a seven-story academic building of Tashkent State Technical University was fully reconstructed and equipped with modern laboratories and educational facilities.
ToshTech is a state higher education institution with academic, financial, organizational, and managerial autonomy. Under the approved program, relevant faculties and departments of Tashkent State Technical University will be gradually integrated into the new innovative ecosystem by 2030.
The new university has attracted considerable interest among young people. A total of 1,654 applicants applied for the 2026/2027 academic year, of whom 400 of the most talented and capable young people were admitted to the university. All students in the first intake are studying on full state grants. This opportunity will also be available to students admitted through the 2029/2030 academic year.
The educational process is conducted entirely in English, with classes taught by both local faculty and highly qualified international specialists.
Students pursue programs in Industrial Engineering and Management, Electrical Engineering, Energy Engineering, Materials Science, and Nanotechnology.
ToshTech is integrated with internationally recognized educational brands. The university was established in close cooperation with leading universities worldwide, including Shanghai Jiao Tong University in China, Politecnico di Milano in Italy, Constructor University in Germany, as well as the world-renowned consulting firm Boston Consulting Group.
The university’s main goal is to move away from purely theoretical education and, from the first years of study, teach students to work on real industrial projects and solve complex engineering problems. To this end, the university has established close cooperation with leading domestic and international industrial companies so that students can gain practical experience during their studies and secure employment after graduation. These include major companies such as ACWA Power and UzAuto Motors, as well as Thermal Power Plants JSC and Regional Electric Networks JSC.
The President was briefed on the university’s future plans.
During his conversation with faculty members and students, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev emphasized that ToshTech Technical University should become an innovative platform for training a new generation of engineers capable of taking the country’s industrial potential to a new level.
“I would like to emphasize once again that a person’s property, position in society, and other material benefits are temporary and fleeting. However, no one and no force can take away the knowledge and experience a person possesses. Knowledge is a person’s most reliable and valuable investment,” the President said.
The Head of State posed for a photo with the university students.
