President Shavkat Mirziyoyev receives U.S. House of Representatives delegation

25.08.2026

President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received a delegation from the U.S. House of Representatives, consisting of Congressmen Jason Smith, Greg Murphy, Ronny Jackson, and Edward Case.

At the beginning of the meeting, the U.S. lawmakers sincerely congratulated the President and the people of Uzbekistan on the 35th anniversary of the country’s independence.

The meeting addressed the further strengthening of the strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and the United States, as well as the development of interparliamentary cooperation.

The parties expressed satisfaction with the positive dynamics of bilateral relations, the high level of political dialogue, and the intensification of contacts and mutual visits. During a recent telephone conversation, the leaders of the two countries identified priority areas for the further expansion of the strategic partnership.

They also focused on the development of trade and economic cooperation. Since the beginning of this year, bilateral trade has grown by 20 percent. The three-year Economic Cooperation Program is being implemented consistently and provides for the launch and implementation of major projects in the fields of energy, critical minerals, transport, agriculture, digital technologies, and industry.

The important role of the U.S. Congress in supporting the large-scale reforms underway in Uzbekistan and promoting constructive and mutually beneficial dialogue between the two countries was noted.

Particular attention was paid to expanding interregional cooperation. They expressed readiness to further develop direct ties and implement joint projects with the states of Missouri, North Carolina, Texas, and Hawaii, represented by the members of the U.S. delegation.

They also exchanged views on current issues on the regional and international agenda.

Following the meeting, the parties agreed to organize mutual visits by business missions.
