Young people to be trained in professions in demand in the modern labor market

17.08.2026

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the Khorezm Advanced Skills Technical College in Urgench and toured the Professions Town located on its premises.

In Uzbekistan, particular attention is paid to training mid-level specialists who meet labor market demands and possess modern knowledge and practical skills. Systematic efforts are underway to align vocational education with employers’ needs, introduce advanced international practices, and expand dual education.

The Khorezm Advanced Skills Technical College in Urgench, is designed to contribute to these goals. A total of 72.4 billion soums was allocated from the state budget for its construction. The 5.2-hectare campus includes two academic buildings for 1,100 students, a 300-bed dormitory, a sports hall, a dining hall with seating for 200 people, and two modern training workshops equipped with the necessary facilities.

The college provides training based on advanced educational programs from Germany, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, China, and South Korea. The dual education system enables students to combine theoretical knowledge with hands-on experience directly in the workplace.

For the 2026–2027 academic year, 200 talented young people were selected through a competitive process across 11 vocational fields. The educational process is organized in cooperation with employers, with particular attention paid to ensuring that graduates secure employment in their chosen professions.

The college also serves as a modern practical training base for other vocational education institutions in the Khorezm region. Around 4,300 students from educational institutions across the region receive practical training in the college’s workshops and laboratories. Similar colleges of advanced vocational skills are also planned to be gradually established in the Republic of Karakalpakstan and other regions.

The Head of State also toured the Professions Town located on the college premises. Conditions have been created here to identify young people’s interests and abilities at an early stage and provide them with appropriate career guidance.

At the Professions Town, following the “Try Making It Yourself” principle, students will work directly with various types of modern equipment and acquire practical skills. It covers fields in demand in the labor market, including transport and logistics, industry and construction, services, agriculture, and green energy.

The complex will operate in cooperation with major employers. This will create a unified system, from career guidance for young people and the acquisition of practical skills to their subsequent employment.

The President emphasized the importance of providing young people with quality training in professions in demand in the modern labor market, systematically adapting educational programs to employers’ needs, and extending this experience to other regions.
