Yangi Sergeli Street gains new trade and service infrastructure

04.07.2026

On July 4, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed the transformation of Yangi Sergeli Street and the operation of its trade and service facilities in Sergeli district.

Tourism and the service sector play an important role in creating jobs with relatively low investment, increasing household incomes, and enhancing the urban environment. Tashkent possesses significant potential in this regard.

The tourism, trade, and service facilities created on Yangi Sergeli Street operate around the clock, providing convenient conditions for residents, supporting entrepreneurship, and creating new jobs.

Implemented at a total cost of 18.7 billion soums, the project has fully modernized a 2.1-kilometer section of the street, transforming it into a 24-hour area that combines retail, dining, and entertainment facilities.

To create favorable conditions for residents' recreation and promote a healthy lifestyle, more than 10 children's playgrounds, eight workout zones, a bookstore, and a leisure center for senior citizens have been established.

Over 21,000 people live in the four mahallas adjacent to the area. An average of 15,000 to 20,000 vehicles pass through Yangi Sergeli Street daily. Once fully operational, the project is expected to serve more than 1.2 million visitors annually.

More than 250 new jobs have been created as part of the project. In addition, 95 businesses have expanded their operations, while another 22 have commenced operations.

The Head of State walked through the mahalla, viewed residential buildings renovated in the national architectural style, the landscaped streets, and the amenities created for residents. He also held a warm conversation with mahalla activists and local residents.

The President asked how the ongoing transformation was affecting the standard of living and well-being of residents. Mahalla activists noted that the changes were having a positive impact on residents' morale, lifestyle, and incomes, while improving both the appearance of the neighborhood and people's confidence in the future.
