President Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed the activities of the gastronomic tourism street developed on Uzbekiston Ovozi Street in the Mirzo Ulugbek district.
Tourism is a key sector that generates jobs with relatively low investment, increases household incomes, and enhances the urban environment. The city of Tashkent holds significant potential in this regard.
In particular, a number of projects are being implemented in the Mirzo Ulugbek district to fully utilize this potential.
The construction and improvement works carried out on Uzbekiston Ovozi Street serve as a practical reflection of the special attention given to the development of the tourism and service sectors in the country.
This project was implemented on the basis of the resolution of the President, “On additional measures to diversify domestic tourism services,” adopted on April 30, 2022.
The facility was launched in September 2025, with its design developed by the Russian architectural bureaus Citymakers and Lyudi Architects.
The street extends for 2.1 kilometers and features modern infrastructure. In particular, wide pedestrian and bicycle paths have been built, and comfortable conditions have been created for residents and tourists.
Selfie zones, outdoor sports grounds, and bio-toilets have been set up in the area. The street also includes family recreation areas, eco-playgrounds for children, and a rope park.
Walking along the street, the Head of State inspected the newly renovated residential buildings, well-maintained streets, and the conditions created for the population. He spoke with the families living there.
The total cost of the project is 40 billion soums, with 165 retail outlets operating on the street, including 89 business entities that have switched to a continuous mode of operation. In addition, 2,221 new jobs have been created.
At the site, the President was briefed on the work carried out on tourism and gastronomic streets operating in Tashkent.
As noted, in 2025, a total of 26 streets in the capital switched to round-the-clock operation, with 540 billion soums allocated for this initiative. As a result, 1,103 new retail and service facilities were created, 315 business entities began operating in a 24/7 mode, and 26 foreign brands launched their activities.
The work carried out has also had a positive impact on economic indicators. The number of people using various services on these streets increased from 80,000 to 200,000 per day, and employment was provided for 6,000 people.
Information was also provided on plans to create an additional 18 tourism streets this year, launch 500 new facilities, and generate up to 7,000 new jobs.
The President gave specific instructions to officials to further increase the number of gastronomic tourism streets in the Mirzo Ulugbek district, fully utilize existing opportunities, improve the quality of services, and implement new investment projects.
