On March 3, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Shavkat Mirziyoyev chaired a meeting on strengthening the country’s defense capability.
Issues related to further strengthening defense potential, ensuring the country’s military security, and reviewing progress in implementing the priority tasks outlined at the expanded meeting of the Security Council on January 13 were examined.
It was emphasized that hotbeds of tension and conflict continue to persist around the world, geopolitical competition is intensifying, and the risks of new threats and challenges are increasing. In the context of an unstable international situation, where military actions in certain regions lead to serious humanitarian and economic consequences, strengthening the country’s defense capability and ensuring its security are of particular importance.
The Minister of Defence reported on efforts to enhance the combat readiness of the troops, improve the operational training of units and subunits, equip them with modern weapons and equipment, and develop the infrastructure of military-administrative sectors.
Particular attention was paid to studying the advanced practices of developed countries and combat experience, as well as to introducing modern approaches into the system of military command and training. In particular, the need for the broader application of new technologies, including unmanned systems and digital command solutions, to enhance effectiveness of troops was emphasized.
Specific tasks were outlined for the modernization and development of the infrastructure of military-administrative sectors, training grounds, educational institutions, and logistics facilities in line with modern requirements.
Instructions were given to consistently improve the system of military personnel training, strengthen research and development activities, and expand programs aimed at mastering advanced weapons and technologies.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the Head of state set further tasks aimed at the continued development of the Armed Forces and the strengthening of the country’s defense capability.
