President Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed the basalt production line at the Surkhon Sandwich enterprise in Termiz district.
Large-scale construction and infrastructure development is underway across the country. In recent years, particular priority has been given to ensuring energy efficiency in the implementation of major projects and the construction of infrastructure facilities. As a result, demand for basalt raw materials, as well as energy-efficient panels and construction materials produced from them, continues to grow.
The enterprise, established in response to this demand, represents an investment of $26 million. As part of the project, production facilities with a capacity to process 30,000 tons of basalt per year have been commissioned, enabling the output of finished goods valued at 345 billion soums.
In addition to the domestic market, the products are supplied to Tajikistan and Afghanistan.
95 per cent of the raw materials required for the production process are sourced from deposits in the Altinsay district of the region. The enterprise has installed modern equipment from China. It provides permanent employment for 200 people.
While reviewing the production process, the President emphasized the importance of further improving product quality, increasing the level of localization and expanding export-oriented activities.
Overall, the need to strengthen the scientific foundations of the construction industry and to establish a specialized research institute for construction materials was highlighted.
The Head of state also reviewed an exhibition showcasing the construction materials industry of the Surkhandarya region.
This concluded the visit to the region, and the President departed for Tashkent.
