State social support measures for vulnerable populations during Ramadan discussed

16.02.2026

On February 16, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev chaired a meeting on further strengthening social protection for vulnerable segments of the population during the month of Ramadan.

In recent years, Uzbekistan has consistently implemented large-scale reforms aimed at upholding human dignity, ensuring social protection for the population, and building a just society. As enshrined in the Constitution, Uzbekistan, as a social state, prioritizes ensuring citizens’ well-being, supporting vulnerable groups, and fostering a culture of charity and mutual care. These principles become particularly evident during the month of Ramadan, when the values of generosity and solidarity are reinforced by concrete practical actions.

The Head of state emphasized that during the blessed days of Ramadan, caring for the elderly, lonely individuals, and those in need, as well as providing practical assistance to families facing difficult circumstances, reflects the highest moral values.

The meeting reviewed comprehensive measures developed under the slogan “Ramadan – a Month of Charity, Unity, and Gratitude.” To implement these initiatives, it is planned to allocate 750 billion soums to the Vaqf Public Charity Fund and 300 billion soums through the National Agency for Social Protection.

The allocated funds will provide one-time financial assistance to needy families and cover medical treatment and surgical expenses for persons with disabilities.

At a meeting held in January of this year, the President emphasized that in an environment where radical and extremist ideas attempt to influence young people through information technologies, this issue cannot be resolved solely through prohibitions and punitive measures.

In this regard, the Head of state placed particular emphasis on the need to protect women, the educators of the future generation, from the influence of destructive ideas, as well as on providing them with comprehensive spiritual and material support.

The importance of supporting individuals who have fallen under the influence of destructive ideas was noted, including material assistance, individualized engagement with their families, medical and psychological support, and employment through vocational and craft training.

The President separately emphasized the need for accurate and transparent compilation of lists of needy families in each mahalla, as well as the equitable provision of assistance regardless of citizens’ religion, nationality, or social origin. Relevant agencies were instructed to ensure strict oversight of this process.
