At the invitation of the Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Shehbaz Sharif, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev will pay a state visit to Pakistan on February 5-6.
In accordance with the program, talks will be held in Islamabad with the President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari, the Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the Chief of Army Staff of the Armed Forces Field Marshal Asim Munir, as well as the first meeting of the Strategic Cooperation Council.
The upcoming high-level contacts will focus on further deepening Uzbek–Pakistani strategic partnership relations and multifaceted cooperation.
Key aspects of strengthening political dialogue, intergovernmental, inter-parliamentary, business, and interregional ties will be comprehensively reviewed.
The parties will pay particular attention to increasing bilateral trade turnover, advancing joint projects in industry, transport and infrastructure, and tourism, as well as continuing cultural and humanitarian cooperation.
An exchange of views will take place on current aspects of the international and regional agenda.
Following the talks, a Joint Declaration and a substantial package of agreements are expected to be signed.
The President of Uzbekistan will also take part in a joint business forum for representatives of the leading business circles of the two countries.
