Priority tasks for the future development of JSC “Uzbekneftegaz” reviewed

30.01.2026

On January 30, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev was briefed on a presentation on improving the operational efficiency of the "Uzbekneftegaz" joint-stock company.

Consistent measures are being implemented in the country to strengthen energy security, ensure a stable supply of energy resources, including natural gas, to the domestic market, and provide uninterrupted supply to sectors of the economy. At the same time, the growing demand for natural gas from both the economy and the population requires the identification of new reserves, increased efficiency of existing fields, and the commissioning of new ones.

In this regard, the joint-stock company "Uzbekneftegaz" has been tasked with fundamentally increasing the industry's performance and implementing modern approaches.

It was noted that in 2025, the company's enterprises produced 25.2 billion cubic meters of natural gas, drilled 56 new wells, while performed major workovers on 29 wells.

In 2026-2027, it is planned to ensure stable natural gas production volumes and to implement more than 300 geological and technical measures.

The presentation outlined the priority tasks required to achieve these indicators.

In particular, special attention will be paid to increasing the efficiency of geological exploration and technical measures, building up reserves, and ensuring the stability of production volumes, as well as improving procurement procedures.

Moreover, measures are planned to create a value-added chain through deep gas processing, the production of import-substituting and export-oriented products, and the financial recovery of the company and its enterprises.

It was noted that the company's activities will prioritize increasing operational efficiency, including ensuring financial stability through divesting non-core assets, ceasing sponsorship payments, and optimizing expenses.

The company's priority areas also include the digitalization of production processes and the widespread introduction of artificial intelligence technologies, strengthening the internal control and compliance system, overseeing the movement of financial assets, and preventing corruption and conflicts of interest.

The Head of state instructed to ensure the implementation of the set tasks and all planned measures based on precise calculation, strict discipline, and personal responsibility.

During the presentation, man-made incidents occurring during geological exploration, including those in the Surkhandarya region, were also discussed. It was emphasized that such cases are a natural part of the complex process of searching for new promising fields and occur in global practice. It was noted that the necessary measures are being taken in the country to address such situations.

The President instructed the responsible officials to place particular emphasis on strengthening continuous monitoring in geological survey areas, introducing modern control technologies, and ensuring public safety.
