The events of the busy program of the official visit of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Japan have concluded.
During his stay in the Japanese capital, the Head of our state held meetings and talks with Emperor Naruhito of Japan, Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi, leaders of both houses of Parliament, members of the Parliamentary League of Friendship with Uzbekistan, members of the government, the mayor of Nara, and rectors of leading Japanese universities.
Issues related to expanding practical interaction and multifaceted cooperation in the political, trade, economic, investment, cultural, and humanitarian spheres were discussed in detail.
As part of the business portion of the visit, a business forum and bilateral meetings with the heads of major Japanese companies and financial institutions were held.
The main outcome of the visit was the signing by the leaders of the two countries of a Joint Statement on an enhanced strategic partnership for future generations, which elevates Uzbek–Japanese relations to a qualitatively new level.
A substantial package of agreements was adopted in the fields of education, healthcare, ecology, water resources, transport, urban development, tourism, agriculture, and disaster risk reduction.
The President of Uzbekistan also took part in and spoke at the first summit of the “Central Asia + Japan” Dialogue, during which he put forward a number of important initiatives for the further development of cooperation within this format.
Following the summit, the Tokyo Declaration was adopted.
As part of the visit’s program, the Days of Culture of Uzbekistan were held in Tokyo, featuring a concert by master artists, the photo exhibition “New Uzbekistan,” and an exhibition of applied arts and crafts.
Upon completion of the events in Japan, the President of Uzbekistan departed on a working visit to Russia to take part in the upcoming meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council and the informal summit of the leaders of the Commonwealth of Independent States in St. Petersburg.
At Haneda International Airport, the distinguished guest was seen off by member of the Japanese Parliament Muneo Suzuki, deputy minister of foreign affairs Otsuru Tetsuya, and other officials.
