On October 21 President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited IT-Park in Mirzo-Ulugbek district of the capital and took part in the groundbreaking ceremony of the construction of the project’s second stage.

In the framework of the first stage two years ago, implemented at the expense of the investments worth $200 million, six office buildings with the height of 20-25 stories and a modern congress-hall were developed on an area of over 4 thousand hectares.

All conditions for the work of specialists and support for prospective startups have been created at the IT-Park. Here, incubation and acceleration programs have been implemented, projects in the sphere of IT, fintech, logistics, e-commerce, online education, biotechnologies and other fields are being implemented.

Currently the number of IT-Park residents reached 3200 companies. Last year the volume of their services reached $1,6 billion, and by the end of the current year this indicator will exceed $2,5 billion.

The volume of services exports will exceed $1 billion for the first time.

According to “Uzbekistan-2030” strategy, it’s planned to ensure over 300 thousand of young people with highly paid jobs in the sphere of information technologies. The estimates of foreign experts demonstrate that the potential of Uzbekistan in the sphere of artificial intelligence only is valued at $10 billion.

- I’m certain that this major initiative, the start of which we give today, will contribute greatly to the achievement of ambitious goals set and further strengthening of mutually beneficial cooperation between Uzbekistan and foreign investors, - mentioned the Head of our state.

In accordance with the project IT-Park territory will be expanded by 1,5 times. Here, a data-center with a capacity of 12 megawatt will be developed jointly with Saudi company Data Volt, worth $150 million.

It’s planned to invest additionally $3 billion and expand the total capacity to 500 megawatt in the next stages.

Moreover, six buildings will be developed on the territory, including a Center of artificial intelligence, Center of space and future technologies, two 20-story administrative buildings, and service and trade centers.

Overall, this complex will become a modern “Artificial intelligence hub”, based on advanced technologies, innovation and knowledge.

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev laid a capsule in the foundation of the second stage of IT-Park project and gave official start to the construction works.
