On October 20, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the Center of Islamic Civilization and reviewed the ongoing work aimed at broadly presenting the rich historical and spiritual heritage of our people through the exhibitions being created there.
This large-scale and unique project was launched based on the Presidential Resolution of June 23, 2017. Shortly thereafter, on the day of the Ramadan Hayit holiday in 2018, its foundation stone was laid.
Over the past years, a significant amount of construction and landscaping work has been carried out at the site.
The Center has been built in harmony with ancient architectural traditions and national decorative elements. Portals 34 meters high are installed on all four sides of the building, and in the center rises a dome of national style reaching a height of 65 meters.
In the central part of the complex is the Hall of the Holy Quran, where a unique spiritual treasure of the Islamic world – the ancient Quran of Uthman will be displayed. In addition, handwritten copies of sacred books from the eras of the Samanids, Karakhanids, Khwarezmshahs, Timurids, and other dynasties will be exhibited, along with their translations into Old Uzbek, as well as samples of the rarest handwritten Qurans from around the world.
Furthermore, on the initiative of the President, valuable sources and artifacts related to our history and the heritage of great scholars that had previously been kept abroad have been returned to Uzbekistan.
As part of the complex, a 460-seat conference hall has been built, equipped with everything necessary for hosting international meetings and scientific forums.
The museum includes sections such as “Civilizations Before Islam”, “The First Renaissance”, “The Second Renaissance”, “Uzbekistan in the 20th Century”, and “New Uzbekistan – New Renaissance”.
These sections feature materials about the lives and activities of great scholars such as Imam al-Bukhari, Imam al-Tirmidhi, Abu Mansur al-Maturidi, Bahauddin Naqshband, and other prominent theologians.
A separate exhibition is dedicated to enlightened women and patrons who left a remarkable mark on history – Bibikhonim, Nodirabegim, Uvaysi, and Anbar Atin.
The Head of State has consistently emphasized the importance of enriching the Center’s activities with deep scientific and educational content. During the visit, information was presented on efforts to expand the Center’s cooperation with the International Islamic Academy of Uzbekistan and the scientific centers named after Imam al-Bukhari, Imam al-Tirmidhi, and Imam al-Maturidi.
During his visit, the President reviewed the finishing and interior works, the content of the exhibition sections, and the interactive technologies being applied.
The Head of State stressed the importance of presenting the exhibits to visitors, both local and foreign, in an engaging and accessible form. In this regard, attention was drawn to the need to increase the number of specialists and guides trained under special programs for work at the Center.
Recommendations were given for further enriching the content of the exhibitions and more fully revealing the spiritual and scientific heritage of the Uzbek people.
