President Shavkat Mirziyoyev was presented with information on capital’s complex development, improvement of industrial and transport infrastructure.
During the presentation plans on further developing “Yangi avlod” special industrial zone were reviewed.
This zone, created on an area of 774 hectares, is being actively utilized: 28 projects worth $800 million are being implemented on 268 hectares. Additional 30 projects with investors determined, will be accommodated on an area of 300 hectares. The total volume of investments will reach $400 million.
The importance of expanding the industrial zone, accommodating new industrial capacities, creating new jobs and organizing production high value-added goods, was emphasized.
For instance, it’s planned to build a multi-modal logistics terminal worth $288 million on the territory of the industrial zone.
The project will be implemented jointly with Dubai company “DP World”. Once the terminal is operational, the logistics capacity of the capital and the Tashkent region will expand significantly, which will speed up export and import operations.
The meeting also discussed upcoming work on developing road and transport infrastructure of Tashkent. In particular, considering the experience of reconstructing Shota Rustaveli street, projects based on BRT (Bus rapid transit) system will begin on additional 10 streets of the city.
Additionally, measures on ensuring road safety, regulating transport flows and improving the architectural image of the capital based on a unified code-design, were reviewed.
It was reported that 1 trillion soums will be allocated from the local budget for improving mahallas, developing gastronomic streets and renewing irrigation systems.
The President underlined that the transformations in Tashkent should be aimed at creating a comfortable and modern city environment, facilitating growth of economic activity and entrepreneurship development.
During the presentation, information on major projects in other regions of the country were presented. In particular, plans on further expanding opportunities in accepting and servicing tourists in Bukhara city were reviewed.
