On the sidelines of the 80th anniversary session of the UN General Assembly, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting with Director-General of the World Trade Organization (WTO) Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala.
Topical aspects of strengthening practical cooperation on our country's accession to the WTO were discussed.
Satisfaction was expressed with the progress of negotiations with the member countries of this international organization.
Active work is underway to harmonize national legislation in accordance with WTO rules and regulations, including in the areas of technical regulation and food safety.
The importance of ensuring the effectiveness of the next meeting of the Working group in November this year, as well as taking measures to complete negotiations and the country's accession to the organization in 2026, was noted.
