On September 10, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting on discussing the reform effectiveness and new plans in Tashkent region.
The economy of this picturesque and perspective region is consistently developing. In the past eight years $10 billion of regional and $8 billion of sectoral investments were attracted, about 10 thousand industrial, trade and service enterprises were opened.
In the past three years the number of enterprises with an annual turnover of over 10 billion soums increased by 1,8 times and reached 1,7 thousand. The number of enterprises with a turnover of over 100 billion soums increased from 137 to 193. As a result, if earlier the average annual export of the region hasn’t reached even $1 billion, then in the past months of the current year it exceeded this frontier.
With participation of Chinese investors large industrial parks are being created worth $2,1 billion in the region. Additionally, decrees of the President on accelerated development of the region in 2025-2027 were adopted, for the implementation of which over 40 trillion soums were allocated. All these measures allow to decrease the level of unemployment and reduce the poverty scale locally. By the end of the year it’s envisioned to reduce the level of unemployment and poverty to 4,5 percent.
In order to further increase the results, a reform headquarters was established in Tashkent region at the initiative of the President. A program and projects prepared by the headquarters were presented at the meeting.
The Head of State gave relevant instructions to the responsible ministries and agencies to facilitate the smooth implementation of these projects and the prompt resolution of issues.
In particular, it is planned to build two substations for the organization of industrial enterprises with foreign investment in the cities of Nurafshan, Almalyk and Chirchik.
In Bekabad, it is planned to establish the production of auto parts to replace imports, in Akkurgan district – to open food and textile industry enterprises, and along the Karasu canal, which flows through the Akhangaran, Angren and Urtachirchik districts – to organize tourist and shopping complexes.
Overall investment projects worth $2,5 billion were developed in the region. Their implementation will ensure employment of over 11 thousand people and create an export potential of $434 million.
The President got acquainted with the projects and pointed out additional opportunities.
– Tashkent region has the greatest potential in both industry and agriculture. The main thing is that it surrounds the capital, which is the largest consumer and service market in the country. This is a huge opportunity. By taking full advantage of it, it is possible to increase investment, export, and job creation indicators many times over, - noted Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
The meeting was also attended by the khokims of Tashkent and the districts. It was noted that vacant land in Tashkent region will be transferred to the disposal of the "Tashkent Invest" company and the city's industrial zone directorate, and environmentally harmful enterprises will be moved outside the capital.
The task has been set to connect all districts of Tashkent region with the capital by high-speed electric trains. This will increase demand for new housing, infrastructure, and services and residents will be able to commute to work in Tashkent on a daily basis.
There are 263 mahallas in the region that do not yet specialize in manufacturing, industry or services. Therefore, it is planned to develop horticulture, growing lemons, grapes, raspberries, broccoli and seedlings. To assist these mahallas, it has been decided to engage the services of the "Agrostar" company, which will provide the population with seeds and seedlings and guarantee the sale of produce.
Tashkent region is rich in land and water resources. Instructions have been given to make effective use of this potential by increasing agricultural production while developing processing and export.
Overall, it has been emphasized that it is necessary to utilize all available opportunities to transform mahallas into areas free from unemployment and poverty.
