President Shavkat Mirziyoyev was briefed on the implementation of major projects in the transport sector.
With the growth of the economy and the acceleration of the pace of life, the demand for transport communications is also increasing. It is expected that by 2030 passenger traffic through Tashkent will reach 15 million people. However, the current capital airport does not have the required capacity and, being located within the city limits, cannot be expanded.
In this regard, the construction of a new international airport in Tashkent region has been planned. At present, proposals from foreign companies are being considered within the framework of a public-private partnership mechanism.
During the presentation, officials provided detailed information on all aspects of this large-scale project.
In recent years, investments in road infrastructure have also increased significantly, and new facilities are actively being built. To ease traffic congestion, projects for alternative routes are being developed. For this purpose, a new edition of the Law “On Highways” has been prepared, aimed at creating a favorable investment environment.
Based on this, companies from several countries have shown interest in the project of building an alternative high-speed highway between Tashkent and Samarkand.
Officials reported on the results of negotiations and the proposals received.
The Head of State stressed the need for careful elaboration of these strategically important infrastructure projects and for moving to their practical implementation in the shortest possible time.
