On July 1, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev got acquainted with the presentation of plans in the sphere of digital technologies, artificial intelligence and telecommunications.
Due to the vast opportunities created for the development of digital technologies in our country, significant results have been achieved. The number of IT-Park residents exceeds 2800, the number of foreign companies reached 752. About 40 thousand of young people receive high income in this sphere.
In the past 5 years the export of the sphere increased from $170 million to almost $1 billion. The Internet speed increased by 7 times, mobile Internet – by 4.5 times. Last year the startups attracted $70 million of venture investments.
As a result, Uzbekistan has climbed 12 positions and entered the top 100 of the global startup ecosystem ranking. The country has also risen 17 positions in the international Artificial Intelligence Readiness Index, taking first place in Central Asia. Uzbekistan now leads the CIS countries in the growth rate of the telecommunications sector.
Work in this direction is continuing steadily. In particular, the following goals are set for the next year: digitization of 70 percent of government services, increase in the volume of IT services to 100 trillion soums. It’s also planned to rise to at least 55th place in the E-Government Development Index. A number of draft documents have been developed to achieve these indicators.
These projects and proposals were discussed during the presentation.
Currently, 760 types of government services have been digitized. Last year, 10 million citizens used digital services.
The Head of State emphasized that it is time to move to the next stage – a “Digital Government”. It was noted that the process should start with the sectors most demanded by the population: education, healthcare, construction and public utilities.
According to the decree of the President of Uzbekistan dated October 14, 2024, a strategy for the development of artificial intelligence technologies until 2030 was adopted. A total of $50 million has been allocated for infrastructure development in this field. The objective was set to create a national artificial intelligence model and train 1 million specialists.
The Minister of digital technologies reported on the stages of implementation of this task and the measures being taken to improve infrastructure.
One of the key priorities remains the expansion of services and exports in this sphere. Currently, the majority of indicators is concentrated in the city of Tashkent. Thanks to the favorable conditions and incentives created in Uzbekistan, relocated professionals are showing interest in working in our country. In this regard, it was emphasized that it is important to create an attractive environment in every region and actively attract foreign companies.
