Interim President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Prime Minister Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited Surkhandarya region on 11 October in order to review the pace of socio-economic reforms, wide-scale works in the industry, agriculture and social sphere.

The reforms on the effective use of a huge economic potential, initiated under the leadership of the First President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov, have been consistently continuing in the southern region of the country. As a result of a great creative work, towns and villages have been beautified, the well-being of the population has been improving.

Interim President started his trip to Surkhandarya region with a visit to the memorial complex of Hakim at-Termezi. The First President of Uzbekistan used to begin his trip to this region with a worship to this sacred place. On the initiative of Islam Karimov, a large-scale landscaping work had been carried out at the final resting place of our great ancestor. Today this place has all necessary conditions for visitors.

Later, Shavkat Mirziyoyev called on "Termez Cargo Centre" international logistics center with a customs terminal and an adjacent camping site.

The enterprise, capable to process and load large volumes of cargo, also includes a building of the customs terminal, railway lines, a parking lot with a capacity for 300 heavy-duty vehicles, a petrol station, warehouses for keeping containers and other goods. All conditions are created for visitors. There is a modern hotel, a restaurant, a fitness center, a swimming pool and a mini-market within the complex.

It was stressed that the activity of such complexes will allow to improve the conditions for entrepreneurs, increase the volume of trade with foreign countries and transit potential of our country.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited one of the border checkpoints on the southern borders of our country, where he stressed the need to further strengthen the state border, improve the conditions for service personnel.

At one of the residential quarters of the city of Termez, a presentation of the projects of modern apartment houses for young and low-income families, the construction of which is scheduled in the coming years, has been held.

Along with that, model projects of affordable individual housing for low-income families in rural areas with the construction of all necessary social infrastructure have been discussed.

It was stressed that all facilities must be constructed in due time and quality.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev also visited the facilities under construction at the "Amudaryo Sohili" sports complex. The complex will occupy an area of 21 hectares, where over 50 buildings and facilities will be located. Besides, a year-round children's health camp, with a capacity of 200 seats, will also be built. The complex will also include indoor and outdoor pools, sports facilities, rooms for various clubs, lots of attractions, walking trails and other.

Interim President visited the new “Gold dried fruits export” LLC enterprise, specialized in the processing of agricultural products. Around 25 million US dollars have been invested in this project.

The enterprise is equipped with the most advanced equipment from China, Belgium, Turkey and Italy. Altogether 350 people are employed in the enterprise. The processed products are delivered to the domestic market, as well as exported to Russia, South Korea and other countries.

In the course of exploring the activities of these companies, Interim President pointed to the need to improve land use, increase the volume of export of processed fruits and vegetables. The measures on increasing the volumes of vegetables and fruits in farming units in Surkhandarya, providing necessary financing facilities and seeds have been discussed on the site.

On the same day, Shavkat Mirziyoyev inspected the construction work at the Iso at-Termezi complex, whose heritage is a priceless treasure and is carefully studied in the Muslim world.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed measures to accelerate the construction of a large cement plant in Sherabad district.

The plant, with a project cost of 212.8 million US dollars, will produce 1.5 million tons of cement per year. It is noteworthy that the production is located close to the main raw material base. The new plant, whose products will be supplied to both domestic and foreign markets, will create over a thousand of new jobs.

The Prime Minister also held a meeting with representatives of the Surkhandarya region, where they discussed the issues of socio-economic development of the region, increasing its export potential, organization of new industrial enterprises, further improvement of social infrastructure.

During the meeting, Shavkat Mirziyoyev recited samples of requests and applications, received at the virtual reception of the Prime Minister on the government e-portal and gave concrete instructions to deal with and solve all issues in a timely manner.
