The Head of State was presented with information on the current works for expanding the drinking water supply and sewage systems.
This area of utmost importance for the quality of life and health of the population is steadily developing. Numerous objects are being developed in the framework of social and regional programs. Today 81% of communities are supplied with drinking water, and the coverage of water drainage system is 20%.
In the current year it’s planned to construct 1 619 kilometers of water supply networks and 521 kilometers of sewage networks, as well as construct and modernize 162 objects. As a result 715 thousand people will receive access to clean drinking water for the first time, additional 675 thousand will be covered by sewage services.
The responsible persons reported on the progress of implementation of these plans.
Together with international financial institutions 21 projects are implemented. This year it’s planned to complete works worth $800 million and put into operation 138 hydrotechnical objects.
An effective mechanism of pre-project financing was developed with Asian Development Bank and German Development Bank. Due to the fact that contractors and designed are selected in advance, the start of practical implementation of projects is accelerated. It was noted that such approach should be applied in all projects in the future.
In order to digitalize the water system $125 million was attracted from Asian Development Bank. Within 5 years 4.8 thousand “smart” meters and about 3 thousand telemetry systems will be installed at large water objects and main pipelines in the framework of this project.
Considering the active development of international cooperation and public-private partnerships in this field, the necessity of preparing specialists meeting the new requirements was underlined.
