On May 22 as part of the business program of the visit to the city of Ljubljana, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and President of the Republic of Slovenia Nataša Pirc Musar participated in a joint business forum.
The event was attended by heads and representatives of over 100 leading industrial and trade enterprises of the two countries.
Slovenian business was represented by such companies as KRKA, Duol, Emo Frite, Panvita, Medex, Tajfun Planina, Altado, UVC Solutions, Riko and many others.
In his speech, the Head of our state noted that the fruitful high-level talks held today have opened a new page in Uzbek-Slovenian relations, primarily in trade, economic and investment spheres.
It was emphasized that in the current challenging period in the global economy, it is important to use opportunities to boost mutual trade, expand the scope of cooperation and diversify national economies.
The task has been set to increase the volume of mutual trade up to 500 million euros in the coming years by expanding the nomenclature and volumes of mutual supplies, including textile and horticultural products, mineral fertilizers, copper products, pharmaceuticals, technological equipment and other goods with high added value.
The importance of adopting an Industrial Cooperation Development Program in sectors where the economies of the two countries can complement each other was noted.
The President of Uzbekistan outlined key areas of further economic partnership. Among them are localization of production of pharmaceuticals, production of electrical equipment, food products, storage and processing of fruit and vegetable products, construction and modernization of green energy facilities.
Particular attention was paid to the development of transport interconnection, including through the use of opportunities of the Slovenian port of Koper and the establishment of direct air service between the two countries.
It was noted that the visa-free regime for Slovenian citizens introduced in Uzbekistan will facilitate the development of business, humanitarian and tourist exchanges.
The leader of Uzbekistan drew attention of the participants to the special industrial park for European companies being created in our country, where unique conditions for business will be provided. He invited Slovenian companies to become the first residents of this special zone.
The Head of our state highly appreciated the interest shown by Slovenian business circles in developing mutually beneficial partnership with Uzbekistan, who voiced their concrete proposals and plans.
At the end, a ceremony of exchange of bilateral trade, economic and investment agreements was held in the presence of the two presidents.
