On April 7, a meeting was held between the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the delegation of Vietnam headed by the Chairman of the National Assembly, Tran Thanh Man who arrived in Uzbekistan on an official visit.
At the beginning of the conversation, the head of the Vietnamese delegation conveyed to the leader of Uzbekistan the sincere greetings of the General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam To Lam, President Luong Cuong and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.
Issues on the further development of Uzbek-Vietnamese multifaceted relations, primarily in the trade, economic, and investment spheres were thoroughly discussed.
The need to establish a systematic approach to intergovernmental and interagency contacts was emphasized. The importance of productively holding the meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission and the business forum in Hanoi this year was underlined.
In order to promote new projects, an agreement was reached on the preparation of a comprehensive program for industrial cooperation in such areas as energy, geology, petrochemicals, electrical engineering, textiles, agriculture, and other sectors.
Special attention was given to the development of cultural and tourism exchanges, including through the establishment of a visa-free regime.
It was agreed to intensify inter-parliamentary dialogue to ensure the practical implementation of joint initiatives.
