On April 7, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with heads of parliamentary delegations of Central Asian countries, who arrived in our country to participate in the 150th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union.
The joint meeting was attended by Chairman of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan Yerlan Koshanov, Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic Nurlanbek Turgunbek uulu, Chairman of the Majlisi Namoyandagon of the Republic of Tajikistan Faizali Idizoda and Chairman of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan Dunyagozel Gulmanova.
The distinguished guests conveyed to the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan sincere greetings and best wishes from the leaders of their respective countries, emphasizing the significance of the international event held in our region for the first time.
The issues of further strengthening and deepening of relations of friendship, good-neighborliness, strategic partnership and alliance between the brotherly countries were discussed.
The fruitful results of the first “Central Asia-European Union” summit and the Climate Forum held on April 4 in Samarkand were highly appreciated.
The intensive contacts at the highest and high levels were noted with special satisfaction. The historic character of the recent meetings held in the region was emphasized, including the full settlement of border delimitation issues and the signing in Khujand of the Treaty on the junction point of the state borders of Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan.
In recent years, trade turnover between the countries in the region has grown dozens of times and border trade zones are being created.
Cooperation projects are being successfully implemented in various sectors of the economy, including in the regions of our countries. Programs of rich cultural and educational cooperation are underway.
During the meeting the importance of strengthening parliamentary dialogue, including at the level of committees, was emphasized for the convergence of the two countries and peoples, promotion of joint initiatives and cooperation projects, expansion of interregional contacts and humanitarian exchange.
