President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev participated in a trilateral meeting with President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon and President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Japarov in Khujand on March 31.
At the beginning of the meeting, the heads of state congratulated each other on the coming of the holy Ramadan Hayit and the holiday of spring awakening and renewal - Navruz, wishing peace, well-being and prosperity to the brotherly peoples.
The leader of our country also cordially congratulated the Tajik and Kyrgyz sides on the final resolution of all issues and signing of the Treaty on the delimitation of the state border.
It was emphasized that this document, as well as the adopted Treaty on the junction point of the state borders of the three countries will serve to ensure the goals of stability and sustainable development, enhance the international prestige of the entire region. And the inaugurated Friendship Stele will become a new symbol of strengthening relations of good-neighborliness, trust and strategic partnership between the brotherly countries.
The President of Uzbekistan emphasized the priority areas of practical interaction.
First of all, it is the further maintenance of active trusting contacts at the highest level.
This week, Samarkand will host the first “Central Asia-European Union” summit and the Climate Forum dedicated to common environmental challenges in the region.
A summit with the Arab Gulf States will be held in May, and the seventh Consultative Meeting of Central Asian Heads of state will be held in September.
In this context, the importance of continuing regular consultations through the Foreign Ministries was emphasized in order to thoroughly prepare the agenda of the forthcoming events and develop common approaches.
Special attention was paid to the development of close cooperation between border regions.
It was noted that Uzbekistan's trade turnover with Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan has grown tenfold in recent years. Almost half of this volume falls on the border regions.
In this regard, the need for comprehensive modernization and expansion of customs points on the borders, formation of convenient, modern trade and logistics infrastructure was emphasized.
It was proposed to work on creating a trilateral trade platform, with the organization of a permanent exhibition-fair of industrial and agricultural products.
Another area is industrial cooperation projects.
Today, Uzbek enterprises and private companies are actively investing in establishing modern production facilities in neighboring countries.
To support cooperation, the leader of our country has expressed readiness to gradually increase the capital of the joint investment funds established.
It was agreed to continue work on the development of transport communication between the countries. It concerns increasing the frequency and expanding the geography of air flights, launching new bus routes between cities in the border regions.
The focus is on promotion of major regional projects in the field of “green” energy and transport, programs in the field of water and ecology.
The President of Uzbekistan particularly emphasized that more active work by the governments in the economic direction should yield quick, tangible results aimed at improving the well-being of our peoples.
It was also noted that the cultural and humanitarian events taking place these days in Khujand serve to strengthen friendship and understanding between the peoples, especially the youth.
The Head of our state proposed holding annual joint concerts and festivals of friendship in border regions during the celebration of Navruz and expressed readiness to organize such events next year in the city of Fergana.
Following the meeting, a historic Treaty on the junction point of the state borders of Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan was signed, and the Joint Declaration of the heads of the three states was adopted.
