On March 18, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received a delegation of the European Union headed by the Commissioner for International Partnerships Jozef Síkela who’s paying a working visit to our country.
Topical issues of further developing Uzbek-European multifaceted relations were discussed.
In the beginning of the conversation the high EU representative passed to the Head of our state greetings and best wishes on behalf of the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen and President of the European Council Antonio Costa.
The increasing dynamic of bilateral cooperation development in the past years was noted with deep satisfaction, particularly in political, trade and economic, investment, cultural and humanitarian spheres.
The presence of vast opportunities and potential for its further expanding was underlined.
This will also be facilitated by the soonest signing of the new Enhanced Partnership and Cooperation Agreement between Uzbekistan and the EU.
Mutual interest was expressed in promoting joint projects and programs in transport and logistics, energy, digitalization, agriculture and water management and other priority areas.
Special attention was paid to the establishment of mutually beneficial practical cooperation in the field of processing of critical mineral resources.
At the meeting, aspects of organizing and holding the first “Central Asia - EU” summit and Climate Forum in early April this year in the city of Samarkand were discussed.
There was also an exchange of views on regional cooperation in Central Asia.
