President Shavkat Mirziyoyev laid flowers at the monument to Islam Karimov in the capital January 30.
The ceremony was attended by representatives of the Chambers of the Oliy Majlis, the Presidential Administration, the government, intellectuals and the city's public.
The event was a testament to the fact that service to the people and the country will never be forgotten and will always be honored. On the initiative of Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the memory of the First President has been immortalized: January 30, his birthday, is celebrated annually, a scientific and educational memorial complex has been established in Tashkent, and visits to Islam Karimov's mausoleum during visits to Samarkand have become a good tradition.
Surahs from the Koran were recited and duas were performed at the ceremony. The participants recalled the merits and virtues of the First President, who devoted his life to serving the people.
Similar events were also held in Samarkand and Karshi.
