As is known, construction of the first facilities in New Tashkent started on April 3 this year. The President of our country emphasized that this large-scale project starts with scientific and educational institutions, noting: “They will become the basis and exemplary embodiment of our idea to create an enlightened society”.
Today, the Head of State reviewed the progress in the construction of the facilities.
Among them is the new building of the National Library of Uzbekistan. The four-storey complex in national style will occupy an area of 30 thousand square meters and will be able to serve 1,420 readers at a time.
For the storage of editions of the library fund it is envisaged to install special equipment that will allow to keep records, ensure safety and sterilization of books. In addition, the building will be multifunctional: a cafe for 300 seats, a gallery, areas for light sports and other amenities will be organized for visitors.
- As I already said, we have two main pillars: economy and spirituality. A spiritually great nation will become economically great as well. Educated youth will continue the work of great ancestors, being highly educated, having national pride and a broad vision. Therefore, we begin the construction of our new city with centers of enlightenment. They should become centers of spirituality, culture and science for at least a century ahead, - said Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
The President also emphasized that library staff should meet modern requirements, possess advanced information technologies and service skills. In this regard, the task has been set to improve the quality of training of librarians at the National University of Uzbekistan and other educational institutions. In addition, an instruction has been given to open library branches in 14 cities of the country to create favorable conditions for the development of reading culture in the regions as well.
Modern campuses for Tashkent State Pedagogical University and “New Uzbekistan” University are also being built in the new city. The President got acquainted with the work in progress.
Today, the seven faculties of the TSPU are scattered in different buildings, and many of the buildings are outdated. Therefore, educational buildings for 20 thousand students will be built on an area of 40 hectares. Also a hostel for 5 thousand places, a kindergarten for 300 children, a school for 616 students, an academic lyceum for 588 places, palaces of sports and culture, an amphitheater and other objects will be built here. In essence, an innovative pedagogical cluster will be created on the principle of “kindergarten - school - university” based on the experience of leading foreign universities.
The most modern conditions will be provided for teachers and students. The transition to one-shift teaching and the introduction of dual education will improve the quality of the educational process and practical training.
The “New Uzbekistan” University, founded at the initiative of the Head of State, has become a new milestone in the system of higher education. The curricula here have been developed on the basis of German standards with the involvement of faculty members from the world's leading universities. Every year more and more young people seek to enroll in this university, and currently there are more than a thousand students.
The construction of the new complex for the university will be carried out in three stages. At the first stage, academic buildings and the rectorate building will be constructed. In the future, there will be five faculties for a total of 10 thousand students and a rectorate capable of serving 8 thousand people at a time. It is also planned to build a library, a museum, an exhibition hall, a multimedia room, a sports complex and a swimming pool.
In addition, there will be 286 residential buildings for teachers and a dormitory for 2 thousand students.
Noting the importance of these projects, the Head of State emphasized the need for rational organization of the educational process.
- These educational institutions are an investment in the youth. Their areas, programs, quality of education and specialties should be in line with the goals we seek to achieve in the New Uzbekistan. Those who gain knowledge today will be the key to the country's progress and solution of important issues in the future, - said the President.
