The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed the Decree "On pardoning a group of persons serving a sentence, who sincerely repented of their actions and firmly embarked on the path of correction."
By the Decree in connection with the 32nd anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan and according to the paragraph 23 of Article 109 of the Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan, 483 persons serving a sentence who committed a crime out of ignorance, but have sincerely repented of their actions and firmly embarked on the path of correction, were pardoned.
Of those pardoned, 107 persons are released from punishment in full, 275 are released from serving their sentence on parole, and the punishment imposed on 7 persons is replaced with a more milder one. In addition, the terms of imprisonment imposed on 94 persons are reduced.
Among those pardoned are 25 citizens of foreign countries, 32 women, 5 men over 60 years old, 274 under 30 years old (including 104 minors), as well as 6 persons who participated in the activities of banned organizations.
This event is a practical embodiment of the policy of humanism pursued in our country, as well as such noble qualities of our people as generosity, indulgence, nobility and mercy.
As part of the implementation of the Decree, the responsible ministries and departments are instructed to assist the pardoned persons in returning to their families and loved ones, social adaptation, involvement in useful labor, choosing a healthy lifestyle and taking a worthy place in society.
