On October 14, a ceremony for launch and start of construction of important projects in Tashkent region was held in Yangiyul district.
Tashkent region is of strategic importance in the economy of our country. The potentials of this region and the capital are interconnected and complement each other.
Over the past five years, the volume of industrial production in Tashkent region has increased 1.5 times and amounted to 107 trillion soums, the volume of regional exports has increased 3.5 times and reached almost $1 billion.
Favorable business and investment climate contributes to the increase in investment and implementation of advanced technologies. If in 2018 only $20 million of investments were utilized in the region, last year this figure reached $1 billion. The number of enterprises with foreign capital is also growing year by year and currently stands at 1,700.
Today, 91 foreign investment projects worth $20 billion and $360 million, and 28 domestic investment projects worth $4,5 billion are underway.
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev emphasized the importance of the projects during the ceremony.
In particular, a special industrial technopark “Great Silk Road” will be built in the city of Almalyk on the area of 227 hectares at the expense of investments in the amount of 1 billion dollars. It will accommodate about 100 enterprises in such areas as electrical engineering, textiles, construction materials and pharmaceuticals. 3 thousand new jobs will be created, production of goods worth 5 trillion soums a year will be established, and export of goods worth 300 million dollars will be made possible.
In Yukorichirchik district, a textile industrial park with an area of 69 hectares will be created for $350 million. It will accommodate more than 20 enterprises for the production of yarn, dyed fabric and finished textile products.
The production and export of food products in our country is consistently growing. By 2030, food production is to be increased 2 times, export - 5 times, the level of added value - 3 times. Tashkent region will undoubtedly make a great contribution to achieving this goal.
In particular, enterprises for production of 50 thousand tons of mineral fertilizers and chemicals per year are being put into operation in Yangiyul district, enterprises for production of high quality export-oriented food products are being launched in Kibray.
Tashkent region also has a great potential in the energy sector, where there are capacities of 5.7 gigawatts. In order to increase this volume, 6 projects with a capacity of more than 800 megawatts are being implemented for the amount of $1,5 billion.
Along with the development of green energy, a lot of work is being done in our country to maintain the stability of the energy system. Therefore, it is planned to build electricity storage systems with a total capacity of 4 thousand 100 megawatts by 2030.
An important role in this is devoted to three projects to be implemented with the participation of leading Chinese companies. First of all, a solar power plant worth $240 million will be built in Buka district jointly with China Datang. This station will generate 576 million kilowatt-hours of electricity per year, which is enough to supply 240 thousand households. This will bring the region's generation capacity to 6,5 gigawatts and electricity production to 24 billion kilowatt-hours per year.
Two more projects are energy storage systems with a capacity of 200 megawatts worth $220 million, which will be built in Parkent and Pskent districts together with China Energy Overseas Investment. These systems will allow avoiding blackouts during peak hours and reliable supply of electricity to consumers.
In recent years, new hydroelectric power plants with the capacity of more than 400 megawatts have been built in our country with investments of $630 million, and the total capacity of hydroelectric power has reached 2,2 gigawatts.
Studies show that there is an opportunity to build 44 hydropower plants with a capacity of 3,280 megawatts in our country. Particularly there is a great hydropower potential in Tashkent region.
Currently, 25 hydroelectric power plants with a total capacity of 1 thousand 330 megawatts are operating in the region. This amounts to 60 percent of the total hydropower capacity of our republic.
Now four more hydroelectric power plants are being built worth $880 million with a capacity of 340 megawatts. Also, 23 projects with a total capacity of about 2 thousand 400 megawatts worth $4 billion and $800 million will be implemented in the region until 2028.
During the ceremony, two of them were put into operation - small HPP with a capacity of 2,5 megawatts built in Ahangaran district and small Ugam HPP with a capacity of 1.5 megawatts built in Bostanlyk district. These facilities will generate 18 million 400 thousand kilowatt-hours of “green” energy per year and provide electricity to 7 thousand 600 households.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev expressed gratitude to foreign companies investing in our country and wished success in their work.
By pressing a symbolic button, the construction and activities of 9 projects were launched. Their total cost is $2 billion.
