Ongoing work in standardization field reported

10.10.2024

On October 10, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev got acquainted with the report on the ongoing work and plans in the sphere of technical regulation.

Our country has set ambitious goals to increase production and export potential. Issues of technical regulation, standardization and metrology play an important part in this process. In accordance with the decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated February 27 this year, the state management has been improved in this area, and new tasks have been defined.

In recent years, 12,000 standards have been approved, and since the beginning of this year another 1,040 international standards have been adopted. In order to ensure the safety and quality of products, 29 technical regulations have been developed, which are regularly brought to the attention of industrial enterprises and entrepreneurs. Assistance in obtaining certificates is also provided.

The officials presented information on the work accomplished, as well as plans for the rest of the year and the forthcoming year.

The Head of State pointed out that an effective system of technical regulation is needed to enter international markets and set additional tasks. Currently, only 64 out of 269 laboratories of our country recognize test results at the international level. This forces entrepreneurs to conduct additional tests when exporting products.

The President stressed the need to increase the number of internationally recognized laboratories and organize 10 new laboratories in such sectors as electrical engineering, construction materials and mechanical engineering.

Uzbekistan is moving towards joining the World Trade Organization. In this respect, it was stated that the legislation in the sphere of technical regulation should comply with the requirements of this organization.

This year it is planned to develop 340 national standards, and by the end of 2025 - 38 more regulations. Special attention will be paid to the digitalization of the work of 28 technical committees, as well as the activities of laboratories. For this purpose, an electronic platform “Technical Regulation” will be launched.

In addition, to ensure high quality and efficiency of work in this area requires the training of specialists with modern knowledge and skills, working in accordance with international standards. In this regard, it is instructed to improve the system of training in this area.
