A solemn ceremony dedicated to the celebration of October 1 - Teachers and Mentors Day, was held in Tashkent.

At the beginning of his speech, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, on behalf of the entire nation, sincerely congratulated the workers in the field of education and upbringing on this important holiday, expressing his deep respect for them.

- We are representatives of great and enlightened people who have always respected the teacher, exalting him like a father. Take any of our distinguished ancestors and you will see that they all treated their teachers with the deepest respect. A society that honors its teachers will certainly prosper and develop. A nation that highly values its teachers enjoys great respect in the world, — emphasized the Head of State.

The President noted that behind every significant undertaking, every discovery and achievement in life there is the work, patience and love of a teacher.

- Education is the most relevant of all spheres, school - the most important institution, and teacher - the most noble of all professions. For me personally, a teacher is a person from whom light emanates. These are people who are always at the forefront of our time, patriots devoted to their homeland and their people. That is why our people trust teachers with the most valuable thing they have - raising their children, - said Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

The Head of State also emphasized that the wisdom of mentors, their deep understanding of life inspire others to do good deeds and achieve success.

- Changing a person’s consciousness and worldview is the basis for changes in society. If society doesn't change, there won't be progress. But who is capable of changing the thinking of people and, consequently, the entire society? Who can raise the new Beruni, al-Khorezmi and Fergani? Only you, teachers and mentors, are capable of fulfilling this great task, this truly historic mission, - stressed the President.

The President also noted that today the youth of our country is achieving high results at international scientific Olympiads and sports competitions. These victories are primarily the result of the dedicated work of teachers and mentors.

In accordance with the decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated September 27, for a significant contribution to the development of the education system, exemplary work in raising a healthy and harmoniously developed generation, as well as active participation in public life, a group of compatriots were awarded honorary titles, orders and medals. These awards were presented at a solemn ceremony.

- True happiness is to earn respect for your work and be honored among the people. This is particularly true for teachers and mentors. May your dignity and position in society always be high, dear teachers, - said Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

Speakers on behalf of the awardees expressed sincere gratitude to the President for his attention to the field of education and high contribution to the development of teaching, as well as recognizing their modest but significant contribution to the future of the country.
