The negotiations between the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the Federal Chancellor of Germany Olaf Scholz were held in a narrow format with the participation of delegations.
At the beginning of the meeting, the Leader of our country emphasized the historical significance of the visit of the Federal Chancellor to Uzbekistan.
- We consider this as a confirmation of your special attention to further development of multifaceted Uzbek-German relations and support for irreversible reforms in New Uzbekistan, - underscored Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
The Head of our State warmly congratulated the guests on the 75th anniversary of the founding of the Federal Republic of Germany and the upcoming German Unity Day.
During the talks, the issues of further expansion of the multidimensional relations between Uzbekistan and Germany were considered.
It was emphasized that last year’s summit in Berlin gave a strong impetus to the development of practical cooperation between the two countries.
Contacts at all levels have been intensified. Turnover last year exceeded 1 billion euros. Cooperation with German business is expanding - since the beginning of the year, German companies have invested 800 million euros in our country.
In June, the eighth meeting of the Uzbek-German Business Council was successfully held in Tashkent.
The financial and technical assistance projects of KfW bank and the German Society for International Cooperation were highly appreciated.
It was emphasized that an important event in the cultural sphere was the exhibition of Uzbekistan's cultural heritage held last year in the Neues Museum of Berlin, which was visited by more than half a million residents and guests of the German capital.
The opening of the Higher School of Medical Sciences named after Avicenna and Heinrich Schipperges in Samarkand this summer was also noted with satisfaction.
The parties favored continuing active contacts through parliaments, governments, and ministries of foreign affairs.
Foreign Policy departments were tasked with considering issues of raising the level of Uzbek-German relations and conducting regular consultations on international and regional issues, including the situation in Afghanistan.
Active interaction will continue within the framework of the United Nations, OSCE, European Union institutions and other multilateral structures.
It was noted that a strategic Industrial and Technological Partnership Programme was prepared for the current summit. The projects of cooperation with leading companies and banks in Germany worth about 9 billion euros are being developed in such areas like “green” energy, chemical industry, development of critical materials, mechanical engineering, textile industry, construction materials production and many others.
The most significant projects include the construction of steam and gas power plants in our country with Siemens Energy, “Methane Island” and production of “green” ammonia with Linde Group, development of a large copper field with KfW Ipex-Bank, copper mining and cable production with Giga Fiber, carbon fiber production with AMK Global, black soot and hydrogen with Gesscon and many others.
There are a number of new projects for the localization of pump systems, renewable energy, production of medical products and creation of logistics centers.
An agreement was reached to accelerate and support these projects and implement effective instruments to stimulate investments.
The importance of the agreements signed during the visit on cooperation in the field of critical raw materials and climate change was stressed.
Interest in Uzbekistan’s participation in the Climate Club, created at the initiative of the Government of Germany was expressed.
The Head of our State the German side to become one of the key partners in the implementation of plans to activate the UN Trust Fund for the Aral Sea region.
It was agreed to prepare comprehensive cooperation programs in these areas, with special attention to the issues of attracting German expertise, knowledge and technology, and enhancing the capacity of specialists.
Special attention was paid to transport and logistics, the development of efficient land and air routes, reduction of transport costs.
The leader of Uzbekistan also offered to consider the issue of resumption of direct flights of Lufthansa Airlines to our country.
The importance of expanding partnerships between the regions of Uzbekistan and Germany was stressed. Since the beginning of the year, representatives from two federal states of Germany have visited our country. The visits of the delegations of Berlin, Bavaria and Thuringia are expected before the end of the year.
The signing of an agreement on labor migration during the current visit, aimed at organizing transparent and systematic cooperation in the field was noted with satisfaction.
It was proposed to develop a road map of practical cooperation in the training and dispatch of Uzbek specialists to Germany.
Interest in the wide introduction of the German model of dual education in the regions of Uzbekistan was expressed. To develop educational and scientific exchange between leading universities, it was proposed to launch the Forum of universities of the two countries.
The Uzbek side expressed readiness to create all conditions for the implementation of joint programs and the opening of faculties and branches of higher educational institutions in Germany.
It was noted that the joint School for Management Training will be launched as part of the visit.
The President of Uzbekistan underscored our young people’s high interest in German, which is studied by almost 300 thousand young people. The recent victory of a schoolgirl from Andijan district Rayona Ibragimova at the World Olympics in German language was noted as an example.
The German side expressed its willingness to help expand language and teacher training programmes in the regions of our country.
It was proposed to resume the work of the Mixed Commission on Cultural Cooperation and hold a forum of leading tourist operators of Uzbekistan and Germany.
Following the meeting, an agreement was reached on the preparation and adoption of a joint road map for implementing the taken decisions and signed agreements.
