On September 10, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed the construction and improvement projects at Yangi O’zbekiston Street in Tashkent.
The 11-kilometer-long and 86-meter-wide avenue has become one of the largest infrastructure initiatives in recent years. The growing importance of the street is due to the expansion of the city and the increasing tourism potential of the Tashkent region.
According to the decree of the Head of State dated June 30, 2022, a business center and developed roadside infrastructure are planned on the street. To implement these tasks, a special directorate was organized and an architectural concept was developed.
According to the project, modern residential houses, built in national style, as well as hotels, shopping and service complexes will be built on both sides of the street. Parks, pedestrian and bicycle paths will be organized to create favorable conditions for residents and guests of the capital.
In addition, Tashkent-Eastern Airport and the Olympic City, which are currently under construction, will be located along the street. The President gave instructions to pay special attention to the greening of the area around these facilities and the surrounding roads.
During the current visit, proposals for landscaping of the street were considered. The project will plant decorative trees and shrubs, such as a plane tree, oak, tulip tree, catalpa, Pissardii plum, cypress, Indian lilac, lavender and Syrian rose along the street. Two fountains are planned to be built in front of the airport. Overall, this area will become part of the “green belt” of Tashkent.
The President made his recommendations on the landscape composition and stressed that it should harmoniously combine environmental and cultural elements, creating a unique space for citizens and tourists.
