On August 26, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev arrived in Samarkand. Following noble traditions, his first stop was at the mausoleum of Imam Bukhari, where verses from the Quran were recited, and prayers (du'a) were offered.
"As we approach the 33rd anniversary of our independence, may our independence be eternal, and may nothing darken the future of our country. May the Almighty help us in our efforts for the benefit of the people. The purpose of building this complex is to further elevate the honor of our ancestor Imam Bukhari and create a foundation for glorifying his name throughout the world. May there be more such good deeds," said Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
As is well known, the construction of a new Imam Bukhari Complex is being carried out under the initiative of the President. The mausoleum's area has been expanded to 600 square meters, and its height increased to 28 meters. A mosque with a capacity of 10,000 worshippers has been built. The four 75-meter-high minarets at the corners of the complex give it a majestic appearance. Today, construction and engineering work have been completed, and the finishing phase has begun, with particular attention being paid to national traditions and warm colors.
The President reviewed the ongoing construction and finishing work, emphasizing the need to implement modern and safe management systems within the complex.
"This complex should become a strong spiritual foundation," said the President.
Instructions were given to responsible officials to restore sacred pilgrimage sites across all districts and cities and to accurately convey their history and significance.
The complex will also include a museum, intricately carved ayvans (verandas), and administrative and service buildings. The President also inspected the future museum.
