President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited a yurt exhibition organized at the "Oqqush" complex in the city of Nukus.
The idea for such exhibition was first discussed during the President's visit to the region in 2022. Following his instructions, more than fifty hectares of land were developed, and numerous yurts were built. The largest yurt measures 42 meters in diameter and 22 meters in height, housing administrative offices, a dining area, and other facilities. It is suitable for hosting various cultural events and forums.
The complex features yurts representing the Turkic peoples, including Karakalpaks, Kazakhs, Turkmens, Kyrgyz, Bashkirs, as well as different districts of Karakalpakstan. These yurts showcase the history, culture, and lifestyle of the brotherly nations.
President Mirziyoyev toured the yurts and noted:
"We share the same roots, the same destiny. It is important to increase the number of such events, hold joint festivals, and strengthen the friendship among our nations. It is essential to preserve national crafts, pass them on to the younger generation, train apprentices, and expand publication of children's books in their native language," said Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
The complex also features an artificial lake, an island, and a hotel, quickly turning the area into a popular tourist destination. Visitors show great interest in the yurts, traditional clothing, and household items on display.
Following the visit of the site, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev concluded his trip to Karakalpakstan and returned to Tashkent.
